(Mooresville, N.C. August 17th, 2015-) After an off weekend for Austin Wayne Self (AWS), driver of the No. 98 AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) it’s back to work this Sunday, at the Illinois State Fairgrounds located in Springfield, Illinois.
TheSuperChevyStores.com 100 marks the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards 53rd race at the historic Illinois State Fairgrounds and marks the first of two dirt races for the 2015 season.
AWS has two prior starts on dirt during the 2014 season. Both starts resulted in two top-ten finishes for the Austin, Texas native.
“The dirt races on the ARCA schedule are truly unique,” Self stated. “It’s a one day show with only an hour practice, then qualifying and then the race in the early afternoon. If you have a problem in practice or qualifying it could be a long day.”
“I don’t have a lot of dirt experience in stock cars but I really love the racing and the challenges that it presents. The entire MMM team has worked hard to prepare the car for this weekend. I know we will be in the thick of things come Sunday.”
With five events remaining on the 2015 ARCA schedule, Self sits second in driver points trailing leader Grant Enfinger by 225.
Through 15 events in 2015 the season, the 2014 Scott Rookie of The Year’s earned one win, six top-five finishes with 11 top-tens.
Chassis: Self will race chassis No. 037 out of the MMM stable. MMM purchased the car from Turner Motorsports in the 2014 offseason.
AWS on Dirt: AWS has two prior starts on dirt in the ARCA Racing Series both coming last year. AWS earned 2 top-ten finishes in the dirt races one year ago.
The ARCA Racing Series gears up for the first of two dirt races as the series rolls into the Illinois State Fairgrounds for the SuperChevyStores.com 100 on Sunday, August 23rd. The race will be live on the CBS Sports Network beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET.. ARCA will also have live timing and scoring for all on-track activity presented by AM Technical Solutions and Pirate Energy
