Austin Wayne Self to Run the ‘Double’ at Lucas Oil Raceway

“I am going to have a lot of family at Lucas Oil Raceway, it’s an important race for me and all of our attention is focused towards having a strong run here. It’s a ½ mile, and we were really fast in testing, after Chicago we are looking for redemption and this is just the place to earn it.”

On Friday July 25th Austin Wayne Self will kickoff a packed day of back to back racing in both the ARCA CRA Super Series and the ARCA Series. What could have easily intimidated any driver, motivated the 18 year old from Austin, Texas.

home“We are running the double at Lucas Oil Raceway, so the extended seat time should be to our benefit. We have raced the double at both Winchester and Berlin last year, the only difference is- this one is the same night so hydration is going to be critical. I run two classes all the time at Central Texas Speedway, but this is a larger scale so we will see what happens.”-AWS

In the CRA Super Series race Austin Wayne Self will be running for Crew Chief David Pletcher in the 22 AM Technical Solutions Dodge Super Late Model, and Austin is looking forward to getting back to his grassroots in a SLM. “The biggest obstacle will just be how tight both of the races are, we won’t have a lot of down time between cars, so that will make it interesting…I can also be pretty aggressive in the Super Late Models. I want a win in front of my family, and I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that happens.”-AWS

The 22 AM Technical Solutions Cunningham Motorsports Dodge has had a season that boasts both highs and lows. At Lucas Oil Raceway they look towards a strong finish! Crew Chief for the 22 Dodge, Chad Bryant had this to say, “We tested at LOR earlier in the month. During the test we used a different package than we have generally ran in the past. It should be a good night for us. Running both races, granted he can adjust to both cars quickly, will be good for Austin. Anytime you can get more seat time, it’s going to help you. We will be a factor in this race.”-Chad Bryant.
