Austin Wayne Self – Poised to Clench a Podium Spot in the 2015 ARCA Championship Standings

AWS_Kentucky(MOORESVILLE, N.C. – September 28, 2015) – Every lap counts in racing and Austin Wayne Self proved that theory to be true Saturday afternoon in the Crosley Brands 150 at the Kentucky Speedway.

Self, driver of the AM Technical Solutions No. 98 for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) gained seven positions during the course of the final 50 laps to finish 11th.

Those positions proved to be vital as Self was able to move into third place in ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driver championship standings with one race remaining in the 2015 ARCA season. Self trails second-place driver Josh Williams by 60 points heading into the finale at the Kansas Speedway on October 16.

“We battled a tight condition all weekend long,” Self said. “Our car was good for five to 10 laps and then it was quite a handful. The MMM crew made great changes during the race and it helped the cars handling a lot.

“We have a great opportunity to end up second in points at Kansas. It’s going to take a complete team effort. I know everyone on this MMM team will provide me with the best opportunity to end up in victory lane.

“I really want to end the season on a positive note for AM Technical Solutions, Pirate Energy and everyone on this MMM team. Kansas is my favorite mile and a half track that we race on. I am looking forward to finishing the season on a positive note.”

Self has one win in the 2015 season at the Winchester Speedway in June. The second-year driver will look to avenge a late race incident at the Kansas Speedway in 2014 while battling for the race lead late.

The ARCA Racing Series has raced at the Kansas Speedway since the track opened in 2001. The October 16 event will mark the Series 15th race at the 1.5-mile track. Fans will be able to watch the final event of the 2015 season on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET.  ARCA will also provide live timing and scoring for all on-track activity presented by AM Technical Solutions and Pirate Energy.
