AIRBOX Air Purifier returns to the team after partnering with Self for two races in 2020 at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Road Course and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway and earlier this season at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway in March.
Austin Wayne Self Truck Series Kansas Speedway Stats: Austin, Texas native Austin Wayne Self will make his eighth career Truck Series start at Kansas Speedway this weekend.
In his previous seven outings at intermediate speedway, he earned a track-best of 13th twice, most recently last July. Overall, in 2020, Self earned three top-20 finishes in the City of Oz, with efforts of 17th, 13th and 19th respectively.
Since 2016, he carries an average finish at Las Vegas of 18.4 and has completed 922 of 1,078 laps available for an 85.5 percent lap completion.
Austin Wayne Self Truck Series Speedway Stats: At NASCAR Camping World Truck Series tracks classified as a speedway ranging from 1.0 to 2.0 miles in length, Self has made 65 starts throughout his career with three top-10 finishes, while also carrying an average finishing position of 19.0.
Self also has two ARCA Menards Series starts in 2014 and 2015 respectively with a best finish of 12th driving for Mason Mitchell Motorsports in 2015.
Richmond (Va.) Raceway | ToyotaCare 250 Race Recap: In the most recent NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Richmond (Va.) Raceway, Austin Wayne Self made his 113th NCWTS start.
After starting 10th, Self battled the handling with his No. 22 GO TEXAN | AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet. Falling to as deep as 25th in the running order, chassis adjustments allowed Self to battle back during Stage 3 to earn a respectable 19th place finish, his fourth top-20 finish of the 2021 season.
Six races complete, Self and his Statesville, N.C.-based AM Racing have one top-10, three top-15s, four top-20s and six top-23 finishes.
To The Point(s): Entering Kansas, Self sits tied with Chandler Smith for 12th in the championship standings, a loss of two spots since Richmond.
Just 12 points separate Self from 10th in the championship standings currently held by Johnny Sauter and 61 points in the arrears from fifth locked by Matt Crafton with 16 races remaining this season.
AM Racing also secures 14th in the NCWTS owner standings.
Calling the Shots: Ryan Salomon will continue to lead Austin Wayne Self and the AM Racing team this weekend at Kansas.
This weekend marks his 10th race as crew chief for Self and in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. During his tenure, he guided Self to an average finish of 15.7 during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, respectively.
Career Rundown: Since 2016, Self has competed in 113 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races, delivering two top-five and 10 top-10 finishes. He finished a career-best 12th in the championship standings in 2018.
Spanning six years of Truck Series competition, he maintains an average finish of 18.5.

On Kansas Speedway: “I’ve turned a lot of laps at Kansas Speedway and I’m ready to turn some more on Saturday night. I’m really excited about going back to Kansas knowing how strong our Truck was at Las Vegas last month.

On Richmond Raceway: “For whatever reason, we just could not get our No. 22 GO TEXAN | AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet Silverado to come to life as we needed it too.
“We struggled all day with the balance and then handling and even though we made gains – we ran out of laps to contend for a top-15 finish.”
On 2021 Season After Six Races: “Honestly, I think we have proven a lot as a race team in 2021 but there is still more work to be done.
“Our trucks have been fast, but the series is extremely competitive this season. We just need to stay focused and come to the track worried about the performance of our No. 22 AIRBOX Air Purifier Chevrolet and hope everything else will work out for itself.”
