Chicagoland Speedway Race Notes:
Austin Wayne Self (AWS) drove his No.22 AM Technical Solutions – TechLine Manufacturing Toyota Tundra to a 17th place finish Friday night at Chicagoland Speedway. Self’s Chicago finish was his third consecutive top-20 finish of the season. After starting 25th, AWS was able to maintain a solid effort keeping his Tundra on the lead lap as the front runners set a blistering pace around Chicago’s 1.5 mile paved surface. After riding mid-pack throughout most of the race AWS propelled his way towards the front, racing his way into the 13th position inside the final 10-laps. Racing for position with two laps to go AWS was pushed up the track and out of the groove by the 71-truck. Losing several positions in the final laps AWS crossed the stripe at the checkered flag in the 17th position.
Chicagoland Speedway Post Race Quote:
“We didn’t get the finish we deserved today but a lot of credit goes out to my crew for getting us in position late in the race. We struggled early but made a big swing in the pits on that third stop and the truck came to life. We were just outside the top-ten when we got pushed out of the groove. I did everything I could from keeping it off the wall. I’m just happy we kept it off the wall and brought the truck home in one piece.”
