Austin Wayne Self Looks for Luck in the Irish Hills at Michigan International Speedway

(Mooresville, N.C.  June 9, 2015-) Austin Wayne Self (AWS), driver of the No. 98 AM Technical Solutions Ford for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) looks to make his second start in the Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in the Corrigan Oil 200.

MichiganSelf has one prior start at the 2.0 mile track located in Brooklyn, Michigan. The 2014 Scott Rookie of The Year started fourth and finished ninth in the 2014 June race.

“Michigan is one of the best tracks on the ARCA schedule,” Self stated. “You carry so much speed down the straightaways into the corners. It’s a place where you can move around and search for speed as a driver.”

“MMM was bad fast here last year and finished second. I know we will be a contender for the win. We just need to have luck on our side all weekend.”

“These guys at MMM have worked so hard all year long and they deserve a trip to victory lane!”
Coming off of a 15th place finish at the Pocono Raceway last weekend Self and the No. 98 team enter Michigan fourth in driver points 135 behind leader Grant Enfinger.

Pocono Raceway Review: Austin started from the 15th position but by the end of lap one he worked his way inside the top-ten. Self’s march forward continued running as high as second at lap 27. Self and the No. 98 team positioned themselves for a potential top-five finish until four laps remaining when Self had a problem with the right front and hit the turn one wall. Self and the MMM team would finish the 80 lap event in the 15th position.

Michigan_2Chassis: Austin will debut a new chassis this weekend at Michigan. Self will pilot chassis 037 a former Turner Motorsports car. This will mark the first time that Self will step behind the wheel of a Chevy in the ARCA Racing Series.

The Corrigan Oil 200 from Michigan International Speedway will be live on Fox Sports 2 Friday, June 12th beginning at 5:45 p.m. EST.  Arcaracing.com will have live timing and scoring presented by Pirate Energy and AM Technical Solutions for all on-track activity.
