From Indiana to Alabama! It’s Dega Baby!

On April 27th Austin Wayne Self left Salem Indiana with a P4 finish as well as the Scott Rookie of the Race Award. AWS battled fiercely in front of nearly 50 family members in his Hoosier Scale Dodge. “It felt good to have such a solid race especially in front of family and friends.”

At 30 laps in AWS suffered damage to the fender and fought to maintain track position. At 3 laps to go the team made a risky decision to bring the 22 Hoosier Scale Dodge down pit road. The gamble paid off and in the final laps Austin passed 4 cars on the green-white checker run securing a P4 finish for the day. The team was ecstatic with Austin’s performance and perseverance throughout the day.

Looking forward Austin is now ready to conquer Talladega! “After such a good run at Salem, I know it can only get better at Talladega!” The 22 AM Technical Solutions Dodge backed by Cunningham Racing will begin the journey to Talladega on Thursday where Austin will tour AIDB and Friday be apart of the Race Fever event at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. “I have been looking forward to this race from the start of the season.” –AWS

On May 3rd Austin Wayne Self will be racing one of the most exciting tracks on the 2014 ARCA series schedule. TALLADEGA is not a track but a culture, a resounding piece of auto-racing history that boasts a dangerously exciting race every year. “Man, I am so ready to race here in Talladega.” –AWS. The ARCA race in Talladega has seen young guns like Ty Dillon (grandson of Talladega all-time winning team owner Richard Childress) go to Victory Lane as well as veterans like Frank Kimmel, the series’ 10-time Champion who outduelled the field last year. Talladega is a name maker, when you win at Talladega you become a household name and Austin Wayne Self is ready to take over Talladega, and head on down to Sweet Home Alabama!

“Winning at Talladega would be huge. Our entire Cunningham AM Technical Solutions team has worked really hard to put a great car on the asphalt for this race.”

Talladega has been endearingly coined as the big one, and Austin Wayne Self has his sights set high towards a big win here!
