Monster Mile Awaits Austin Wayne Self

Austin, TX (May 9, 2016) – After a disappointing outcome in last week’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event at Kansas Speedway, Austin Wayne Self is determined to rebound when the series invades the often tricky Dover International Speedway for the Dover 200 on Friday, May 13martinsville11

Dover, known as the “Monster Mile”, has a longstanding reputation for fierce side-by-side racing often delivering catastrophic results for drivers looking to tame the demanding one-mile concrete oval.

Self, who completed a successful test last month at Dover, is cautiously optimistic.

“We had a great test (Dover) a couple weeks back and I think we learned a lot which we’ll apply to our Toyota Tundra this weekend,” said Self.  “Dover can be tricky. It’s going to be a constant battle for position each and every lap.  It’s one of those tracks that can come up and bite you at any time if you’re not smart about it.  I just gotta keep my focus, run a smart race – complete all 200-laps.”

Self, driver of the No.22 AM Technical Solutions-Black’s Barbeque Toyota, will make his fifth series start of the ’16 truck campaign.  The Austin, Texas native currently occupies the 18th spot in the NCWTS driver standings and sits fourth in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year chase.

“Our young team continues to battle tough each and every week.  I’m proud of our guys and their never quite attitude.  We definitely didn’t get the results we wanted last week but we’re ready to get back at it at Dover.”
