The Bridge School Awards Scholarship to 15-Year Old NASCAR Driver Austin Wayne Self

Flexible Online Courses a Perfect Fit for Austin’s Demanding Schedule

February 14, 2012 – (Austin, TX)

In a 1-year agreement, The Bridge School has become a sponsor of the 07 Big Red Chevrolet and official online high school for driver Austin Wayne Self.

“We are so excited to be a part of Austin’s NASCAR program,” said Dr. Spyros Catechis, Founder and CEO of The Bridge School.  “With his demanding travel schedule and the amount of time he has to spend at the track, Austin needed a personalized education solution that gave him the flexibility to pursue his dream.  It’s rewarding to show the world that there are other options available for students like Austin who want to succeed in their education while they follow their passion.”

“It’s been hard not being at school with all of my friends, but it’s what I have to do to make my dreams come true.  It’s just such a relief that something like The Bridge School exists so that we don’t have to plan our racing and practices around regular school hours.  It takes a lot of stress away so that I can focus on racing and still go to a great online school when it fits my schedule,” says Austin Wayne Self.  “And to have the teachers be so helpful and supportive just makes it that much better.  I know they really want me to do well in school and in my races.”

“Getting a good education is important in our family.  Austin’s older sister Michail excelled in high school and is now in the Neeley School of Business at TCU [Texas Christian University].  We want Austin to get a solid foundation as well,” says Tim Self, President of AM Racing.  “The fact that The Bridge School is based in Texas is also really cool because we are proud Texans.  Austin will still get to earn a Texas high school diploma even though we will live most of the year in North Carolina.”

“The Bridge School is just another example of how teenegers in today’s world are able to leverage the Internet and technology to communicate and fulfill their responsibilities.  We are glad to have them behind us so Austin can continue his NASCAR dream,” says Tim Self.
