After a dynamic and challenging day Austin Wayne Self leaves New Jersey Motorsports Park with a wealth of experience and top ten finish.
After missing qualifying on Saturday due to an engine change Austin Wayne Self was set to roll off the green 25th in Sunday’s ARCA series race. Austin commented, “I don’t mind starting from the back because then I get to pass a lot of cars.”
Austin most certainly passed cars during the race. The 22 AMTS Cunningham Motorsports Dodge moved from P25 to P10 within the first 15 laps of the race. Exampling intrepid race craft and talent, Austin maneuvered throughout the field and was soon P6 on his first ever road course race with the ARCA series. Even more impressively after further obstacles including a radio malfunction moved him again to the back of the field Austin regained position in the front pack. Austin finished the race P10 and reflected on the day. “Our car ran really strong and after the challenges we faced today we will only come back even stronger next time. I’m just really thankful for my team and everyone at Cunningham for working so hard this weekend.”
Austin will now be focusing on gaining more track time in preparation for his upcoming races. For more updates follow Austin on Twitter: @AustinWSelf
